I get many inquires per week about booking a maternity session and I seem to answer the same types of questions every day. So I thought it would be a good idea to answer some of my most frequently asked questions here in a post. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding maternity photography.

Do you have studio location? 

• Yes!! I have a gorgeous professional maternity, newborn and baby portraits studio located in Santa Clarita. About 20-25 minutes from Los Angeles. This is not a home or garage studio.

When is the best time to schedule our maternity session? 

• The best time to do your portraits for a maternity session is between 31 and 36 weeks along. You can choose the time frame you would like to be photographed depending on how well you are feeling and big your belly is. Every woman is different and have different levels of comfort and confidence. If you are carrying multiples I definitely suggest a little earlier.

What should I wear to our session?

• We offer a full maternity wardrobe in various sizes in a variety of colors that work beautifully with our style of photography. Wardrobe is key in any photo session so we work with each family on style. Style with vary with each family depending on color preferences, studio or outdoor. More a visual person? Can my husband and children come with me to the session?

• Of course!! I absolutely LOVE having the immediate family there. Heck! Bring the dog if he/she is well behaved.

Where do the maternity sessions take place? 

I have two options for maternity sessions.

• The first and most popular option is outdoors in various locations I have scouted throughout Santa Clarita. Most clients like to go outdoors because they can make use of all of the beautiful gowns and headpieces in my client closet.

• The second option is in my studio in Santa Clarita. Mommies usually choose the studio option when they want to be a little more inmate and sexy. My studio is the perfect place to capture more of a fine art or editorial look.

How long is your typical maternity session?

• Anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on how many looks we are doing and if you have children that will need to be photographed with you as well.

Can I wear more than one outfit?

• Sure! For location we usually do 2 looks and for studio we do 2-3 looks

My arms and face are puffy, I dont feel like I look like myself…

• I totally understand where you are coming from. I experienced this as well. Pregnancy is different for everyone and different for every child you carry. We fully retouch all of our images and accommodate client editing requests for changes like this – we are happy to slim things here and there to help per your request.

Am I able to purchase the digital files? 

• Yes! All of our client walk away with both digital files and tangible heirloom artwork.

What is I only want a few images?

• We present 30+ images from all our sessions and believe our clients should purchase what they love which is why we offer both smaller and larger digital collections allowing you tailor your collection to both you needs and budget.
